Do you know there are 7 major groups of Chinese dialects...? How many do you speak?

This really intrigues me... I never knew how many groups there are... Personally, I speak 3 dialects (Teo-chew, Hokkien and Cantonese, not by choice but through exposure) other than the mother tongue Mandarin.

My roots go all the way back to Shantou (Swatow) where the traditional dialect is Teo-chew and also one of the minority groups of Chinese dialect in China. Hence, there is always a sense of close knitted kinsman-ship when one correspond in Teo-chew with another Two-chew kinsman! 😊
